Activities of CCDRM-I

 Output 1.1:   Children and Communities are made aware in children led disaster risk reduction

·         Identification and selection of most vulnerable villages and UCs and their detailed profiling

·         Conduct base line study

·         Get prepared GIS maps of 3 districts to identify the most vulnerable areas (villages, union councils etc) in each identified district and undertake a hazard analysis. 

·         Establish and strengthen disaster management committees at each of the selected villages

·         Establish and strengthen disaster management committees at  union council level

·         Establish and strengthen child youth organizations at village and UC level

·         Conduct child rights and responsibilities sessions

·         Drawing competition/essay writing , quiz etc

·         Facilitate sport events including swimming at UC level

·         Celebration of international children day (District Children Assembly)

·         Small scale child led  structural interventions  for CBDRM are supported

·         Develop review and implement child centred community based disaster management plans

·         Develop and air radio programs 

·         Develop linkages of children, communities with other CSO, networks and line departments 

·         Organize street theatre/puppet shows on DRM issues

·         Organize exposure visits of children 

·         Establish district volunteer movement


Output 1.2:   Build capacities of children and communities

·         Undertake a training need assessment

·         Develop training manuals 

·         Organize training events for children and communities

·         Organize teacher trainings

·         Organize drill exercises for boys and girls in schools/communities

·         Operationalize DRR curriculum in target schools 

·         Develop model schools where children practice what they learned about DRR

Output 2.1: enhanced/strengthened  capacities of civil society organizations in three districts

Output 2.2: Engage and enhance the capacities of government functionaries

·         Assess capacities of relevant government functionaries on DRM and CCDRM

·         Sign MoUs with district government 

·         Facilitate exposure visit for government functionaries

·         Support local government to improve available plans

·         Engage and keep informed DDMAs on project activities

·         Engage government functionaries in meetings of CSOs/ communities networks/forums at district level

RDPI is bringing out a paper on “Bridging Development Deficits through Democratic Devolution: Post – 18th Amendment Framework for Local Governance in Pakistan” on 27th Jan, 2012 (Friday)between 3:00 - 5:00pm.

The Inauguration ceremony of the Pedestrian Bridge is scheduled on Friday 13-01-2012 by Hamdard Welfare Association (HWA). Rural Development Policy Institute (RDPI) Thatta team and other partner CSOs teams will be participating in the ceremony.
