Mobilization Impact (Muzaffargarh)

Basti Jhalarain Shumali also Known as Basti Azad Kashmir is a part of Mouza Jhalarain Shumali, Union council Rung Pur of Tehsil Muzaffargarh, District Muzaffargarh. It is 45 Kilometers away from District Head Quarter, Muzaffargarh. Doaba is working with this riverine community of Muzaffargarh since 2006. Under the project of CCDRR Doaba's team members were taking initiatives of Child Rights sessions with children lead CYOs.  A twelve year old child Muhammad Tanveer s/o Muhammad Ali highlighted issue about the role of all influential of the area.
 
In a meting with CYO held at girls Community School Jhalarain Shumali issue of salary of teacher was under discussion. Some of the members suggested that they should go to the influential and collect donations for teacher salary.
 
“At this Mr. Tanveer said that he thought it useless to seek help from local influential because they don t want to see us educated. He further said that these local influential fear that if we get education then we may get better jobs, which will be a loss for them because they get a low paid human resource for their cultivation in form of uneducated people like us,,
 
These words of Tanveer are a sign of those awareness and sessions which have been conducted to develop their thinking habits to resolve the issues according to the local context.

Children Assembly Rajanpur

 Robina is a student of grade 3rd in community school, resident of Basti Chawali. She is 10 years old. Expressing her views about her first exposure visit, she says “It was the very first experience of my life to come City Park to attend children assembly, and to see the performances by other children. It was a great motivation for me. I got confidence by performing at a big stage. The confidence and courage I have gained from all this limelight, will boost my energy to participate regularly in such events. My siblings and parents were really surprised to see what I did on the stage. Especially my father encouraged me a lot. She was very happy that I was the first girl of the village who brought a good name for the children and people of the entire village. Recently I have written a speech and I want to deliver it as a girl performed in the assembly and got 1st position.” Her happiness is remarkable keeping in view the socio-cultural background she belongs to. Such an exposure may certainly bring a considerable change in the life of such disadvantaged children.  

Awareness reveals the solutions (Muzaffargarh)

Basti Dawana Bahadur is situated in a riverine area of Union Council Chak Farazi of District Muzaffargarh. This area is very deprived, lacking all basic facilities. Economic situation is matching with the poverty line. Doaba foundation started its new interventions with financial support of Plan Pakistan. CYO is one of the activities which Doaba Team has to carry out in project villages. CYO formation had made the young kids to think about the local matters and now they have stated motivating their parents for collective efforts for overall development.
 
Children started campaign for fund raising in their village. Children discussed this issue with their parents and convinced them on this issue. Children succeeded to raise 1500 PKR for monthly salary of their school teacher.  

Quiz Competetion (Muzaffargarh)

In Basti Meer Dad, during the course of quiz competition between 6 schools, Mr. Asad, A school teacher expressed his feelings, "The enthusiasm for the quiz competition was very high in children. A day before the event a nine year old female child named Tahira asked me to write a speech. I wrote a speech for her. She forgot this paper in the school. When she reached home and in the evening wished for the practice of speech but could not find the paper. She remembered that she has forgotten speech in the school. She requested her elder sister to go to school with her to find the paper.  She committed that she will help her elder sister for daily home work". He further said that it shows her level of interest and courage to win the competition.   

Effort of CYO Basti Chandia (Muzaffargarh)

Basti Chandia is a part of Union council Mud Wala of Tehsil Alipur, district Muzaffargarh. It is 90 Kilometers away from District Head Quarter, Muzaffargarh. Doaba is working with this riverine community of Muzaffargarh since 2006. Under the project of CCDRR Doaba's team members were taking initiatives of formation for Child & youth organizations (CYO).
 
During the course of visits for the purpose to develop CYOs, Doaba team came to know 
 that a twelve year old child Muhammad Naveed s/o Muhammad Muneer is not attending school since last two months. On probing the reason, he said that his father has assigned him the task to take care of animals. He further said that his brother Sana Ullah goes to school and he thinks him disobedient because he is not obeying his parents by going to school.
 
 Sana Ullah's school fellows expressed their views in favor of him that this is not the matter of disobeying because Sana Ullah is going to school for a good cause. CYO members further suggested that they will meet with the parents of Muhammad Naveed to convince them to send him to school again.
 
Next day Ms. Asma, Community Capacity Building Officer, Doaba visited the village. She came to know that members of CYO remained successful to   convince the parents of Muhammad Naveed to send him to school. How it happened it is depicted in the local language,
 
“Bajiasan CYO day member, Naveed day abu ko aakhain keh Naveed parhai ich bahun changa hay. Tusaan eih koun school bhaijho Tay sham koun eh wapis aa kay dangran div e karaisi. Tay baji eih gahal tay Naveed day abu razi thei gaiey hin tay asan bahun khush hain”
 
(“We asked his father that Naveed is good in studies. You should send him to school and he will take care of animals after school time. So his parents agreed and we are very happy because it is the first success of our CYO.”)
 
At this moment Naveed is going to a near by Govt. School Bakhri and he is appearing in the annual exams of class five.

Impact of Child Rights Session (Muzaffargarh)

A child named Nagina, 12 years of age said, "we will demand for our shelter from the concerned authorities, if they did not do so we will contact the media". She belongs to the indigenous community named Basti More Thaheem, Union Council Chak Frazi Tehsil and District Muzaffargarh. Some Days ago, she attended the session on child rights which was conducted by Doaba foundation under the CCDRR project funded by Plan International.

Impact of Working with Children (Muzaffargarh)

 In Basti Dada, Union Council Mud Wala, Tehsil Alipur District Muzaffargarh, Doaba Team was on regular field visit for a meeting with children. Adults were also present in this meeting; People were happy and said,

"We all are happy and we will always pray for success of Doaba and Plan international that they started thinking about the future of our children.

In this meeting there is a CBO Dada of adults. The president of this CBO Mr. Ibrahim said,

"We are too happy today that our children are making attendance at attendance sheet, while we still use thumb expression for attendance. If Doaba & Plan International keeps on such activities then our children will surely make progress"
