WHAT WE DO

 Under this program, following activities are being undertaken: 
1.   Comprehensive capacity building programs on ‘Child-Centered Disaster   Risk Reduction’ for civil society organizatons, local Governments and children and youth.
2.   Organizational development support for local civil society organizations.
3.   Financial support for innovative children and youth-led development and DRM initiatives.
3.   Strengthening and expanding (by including children and youth) community and civil society networks.
4.   Technical support for local governments and District Disaster Management Authorities for improving existing development and DRM plans to accommodate child-centered DRM approaches.
5.   Preparation of community based DRM plans with active participation of children and youth.
6.   Multi-stakeholder citizen forum for substantial citizen participation in disaster risk management activities.
7.   Evolution of citizen, children and youth based District Volunteer Movements.
8.   Financial and technical support for establishing model schools for facilitating children to learn and practice environmental and DRM provisions in existing curriculum.
9.   Training programs for teachers on Child-centred DRM.
10. Development of flood resilient communities in targeted districts.
11. Use of entertainment tools like community cinema, puppet shows, theatre and cultural events for the engagement and mobilization of especially of children and youth.
12. Training and fellowship programs for local and young journalists.
13. Annual awards for young volunteers and journalists.
14. Provision of relief to disaster affectees and support for their early recovery

RDPI is bringing out a paper on “Bridging Development Deficits through Democratic Devolution: Post – 18th Amendment Framework for Local Governance in Pakistan” on 27th Jan, 2012 (Friday)between 3:00 - 5:00pm.

The Inauguration ceremony of the Pedestrian Bridge is scheduled on Friday 13-01-2012 by Hamdard Welfare Association (HWA). Rural Development Policy Institute (RDPI) Thatta team and other partner CSOs teams will be participating in the ceremony.

The construction of school at Haji Allah Bachyo Jat, Thatta has been completed. With the support of Plan, RDPI and HWA they got school first time for their kids.
