Effort of CYO Basti Chandia (Muzaffargarh)

Basti Chandia is a part of Union council Mud Wala of Tehsil Alipur, district Muzaffargarh. It is 90 Kilometers away from District Head Quarter, Muzaffargarh. Doaba is working with this riverine community of Muzaffargarh since 2006. Under the project of CCDRR Doaba's team members were taking initiatives of formation for Child & youth organizations (CYO).

During the course of visits for the purpose to develop CYOs, Doaba team came to know
that a twelve year old child Muhammad Naveed s/o Muhammad Muneer is not attending school since last two months. On probing the reason, he said that his father has assigned him the task to take care of animals. He further said that his brother Sana Ullah goes to school and he thinks him disobedient because he is not obeying his parents by going to school.

Sana Ullah's school fellows expressed their views in favor of him that this is not the matter of disobeying because Sana Ullah is going to school for a good cause. CYO members further suggested that they will meet with the parents of Muhammad Naveed to convince them to send him to school again.

Next day Ms. Asma, Community Capacity Building Officer, Doaba visited the village. She came to know that members of CYO remained successful to   convince the parents of Muhammad Naveed to send him to school. How it happened it is depicted in the local language,

“Bajiasan CYO day member, Naveed day abu ko aakhain keh Naveed parhai ich bahun changa hay. Tusaan eih koun school bhaijho Tay sham koun eh wapis aa kay dangran div e karaisi. Tay baji eih gahal tay Naveed day abu razi thei gaiey hin tay asan bahun khush hain”

(“We asked his father that Naveed is good in studies. You should send him to school and he will take care of animals after school time. So his parents agreed and we are very happy because it is the first success of our CYO.”)

At this moment Naveed is going to a near by Govt. School Bakhri and he is appearing in the annual exams of class five.
